Why does your sister phone you every day from Alberta?
Because we are looking after Sophie, her Shih Tzu. She has gone to Red Deer, Alberta, to visit her son and her first grandchild.
What does your sister want to know?
She asks whether Sophie eats good and sleeps good. Sometimes my sister calls twice a day.
Were you checked out as a dog sitter before you got Sophie?
We went to my sister`s house. Sophie got attached to us, so there was no problem. This is the first time that we took Sophie but she was right at home with us.
How do you keep Sophie (and your sister) happy?
Sophie likes her treats. She loves Pink Peppermint Candies and chews them up. And she wants to sleep in our bed. That is what she is used to with her mum and dad.
So this must be a change to your habits!
Yes, we used to have a mutt named Misty until a few years ago and he had his own bed. He did not sleep in our bed. Sophie loves my husband. He gets all the puppy dog licks.
Sophie seems rather spoilt, I am right?
Yes, more than our dog used to be. Sophie`s parents had her as a puppy. She is now almost four years old. She is more like a child than a dog.
You must be rather busy now!
I usually take her out on a leash for a short walk. She likes walking on a nice day.
What does Sophie do when she cannot go outside in this bad winter weather?
She loves playing with balls. She`s got her own blankie and her little toy dog George. When you tell her, she goes and picks George up and brings him back.
Are you pleased with your dog sitting experience?
Absolutely. Sophie hasn`t barked at all. She is really a good dog. We would take her again anytime!
