Stephanie, why did you choose a Husky as a pet?
Our puppy Kaadyn is the third Husky we got. It is the only one we have right now. Our second Husky had cancer and we had to have him put to sleep. My 15-year-old boy and my 12-year-old girl really wanted another Husky.
How did you get Kaadyn?
We have him from a breeder in St. John`s. He is only three months old and we have had him for five to six weeks.
How did your other dog Soma react to the arrival of Kaadyn?
First, it was not so great. Before Kaadyn arrived, Soma had been alone for a while. So he was a bit jealous. But we just let Soma take his time until he wanted to be with Kaadyn.
What breed is Soma?
He is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu mix and we had him from someone local.
What advice would you give other dog owners?
Give them lots of love and walk them for exercise. The kind of breed is important, what personality the dog has and whether it fits your lifestyle. I read a lot about Huskies before we got our first dog.
How do you train your puppy?
When he is chewing, I say NO and he knows that he is not supposed to do this. But he seems to like my Halloween decorations!
Are there more animals in your household?
Yes, we have also a cat named Jingles and a guinea pig. The cat is crazy. When anyone is coming in, she jumps into their arms to cuddle.
Since the day I was born and up until now I have always had a pet.
Do all these animals get along?
Oh yes, they play together!
